Unless we count stretching at work to try to resuscitate my wary limbs through December, I have not practised Yoga since the one off practice I did in November and I can’t even guess when the last time before that was. Knowing all of this I still thought it was a good idea to jump straight into the fifty minute routine I was used to in the summer. Not the worse but very damn far from the best idea I’ve ever had. I think I gave up before five minutes had gone by and at that point I was still doing alternating side bends.
Pathetic.
So I quickly exited that routine and replaced it with a fifteen minute Sun Salutation. Much better, easier and at my new slow pace. I can feel the muscles in my back coming alive. Sure, this means that I have definitely stumbled away from the Path of the Yogi but that’s fine because it just means that I now have a second chance, which is always good I suppose.
So, I am going to try to do this routine at least once a day until I feel confident enough that I am strong enough to move onto a more difficult and longer routine.
you only just took a detour off the path. And that detour will probably prove beneficial somehow. Have fun on your continued path
Thank you and I know you’re right. I just need to figure out what the silver linings is. I suppose it is that I already know the poses and so I don’t have to pause and spend time having to learn them in the middle of the routine and can instead flow from pose to pose confidently.
